Both HRPO and CR can be galvanized for additional corrosion resistance. Galvanized steel is coated to varying degrees depending on the application. The coating is zinc, as indicated by the letter “G” and the designation’s numbers correspond to the weight of zinc in inch-pound units on the steel’s surface.
Hascall stocks Steel galvanized to the following standards:
- G30, G40, G50
- G60, G70, G80
- G90 and G235

Galvanized steel is widely used in applications where rust resistance is needed, without the cost of stainless steel. Common uses include:
- Automotive
- HVAC
- Agriculture
- Construction
- Green Energy
- Residential
Corrosion Resistance: The zinc coating acts as a physical barrier that prevents rust from reaching the underlying steel. It also acts as a sacrificial anode, so even if the coating is damaged and steel is exposed, the surrounding zinc will still corrode before the steel does.
Longevity: The lifespan of galvanized steel is significantly extended, especially in outdoor environments or where the steel is exposed to moisture.
Versatility: It can be used in a diverse range of applications due to its protective properties.
Galvanized steel is coated with a protective layer of zinc to shield the underlying steel from corrosion, thereby extending its lifespan. The most common galvanization method is hot-dip galvanizing, which involves cleaning the steel (Hot or Cold Rolled substrate) to remove impurities, dipping it into a flux solution to prevent oxidation, and then submerging it in a molten zinc bath. This process forms a durable layer of zinc carbonate that significantly reduces corrosion, after which the steel is cooled to solidify the coating.
