Galvanneal Steel Coils and Sheets
Galvanneal steel is commonly used in applications where the steel needs to be painted and also requires moderate corrosion resistance and good weldability. Typical applications include:
Automotive Industry: Used for parts such as panels, doors, and other components that require painting.
Building and Construction: For use in making ductwork, wall panels, doors, and other architectural features.
Appliances: In the manufacturing of cases and housings for appliances.
Furniture and Cabinets: Particularly in metal furniture and cabinetry that will be painted.
Improved Paint Adhesion: The matte finish of Galvanneal steel provides excellent paint adhesion, making it ideal for applications requiring a painted finish.
Better Weldability: The presence of the iron-zinc alloy layer makes welding easier compared to standard galvanized steel, which can be more prone to producing welding fumes and may require special welding techniques due to its zinc coating.
Corrosion Resistance: While Galvanneal steel offers good corrosion resistance, it is slightly less than that of standard galvanized steel due to the alloying of zinc and iron. However, once painted, it provides excellent protection against rust.

Galvanneal steel is made by hot-dipping steel into a zinc bath, then annealing it. It’s basically baked galvanized steel. The annealing process involves heating the coated steel to approximately 500-565°C (932-1049°F), causing iron from the steel to diffuse into the zinc coating, forming a zinc-iron alloy layer that enhances paintability and corrosion resistance.
