It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our Vice President and dear friend, Leah Jansen. For over 20 years, Leah was much more than
an executive; she was a servant leader that inspired many. She moved through her career with a calm, steady competence, transitioning from a young student helping in the office to a strategic leader shaping our company’s future.
Whatever the assignment. Leah didn’t just do the work…
She mastered it.
And then she improved it.
She found ways to make things more efficient, more accurate, better.
She was selfless in that process.
She taught others, watched over their work,
coached, guided, and fixed mistakes quietly and graciously. She was always there when you needed her.
Another beautiful part of Leah’s presence was her ability to listen. She created a space where you could speak freely and feel wanted and understood. When you spoke with Leah you knew you were in the strong hands of someone safe and trustworthy.
Leah developed a deep understanding of our operations and a strong instinct for guarding our business interests, all while maintaining a deeply empathetic heart. She was a mentor who watched over her team and a friend who listened without judgment. To have a coworker become a true friend is a double pleasure, and for many of us, Leah was exactly that.
Now, we find ourselves treasuring things that might seem odd…
Old email chains, a signature on a piece of paper, her voice on our answering machine saying, “Welcome to HASCALL Steel.” She had the character of a true boss, and we will strive to lead as well as she did.
In honor of her gracious and loyal spirit her visitation will be held for relatives, friends, and family on Thursday, January 29, 2026 from
1-3pm and 5-7pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home at 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the National Leiomyosarcoma Foundation or Wings of Mercy. Condolences may be sent online at www.mkdfuneralhome.com
